Insane adventures, drugs and preposterous language

On October 26 the play ”Bouncers - 1990's Remix” by one of the most famous live British playwrights – John Godber. took place on the stage of Maluk Gradski Teatar Zad Kanala Theatre for the first time in Bulgaria.

Seven awards of the American theatre critic, lots of superlatives in the strictest editions, premieres throughout the world… in the play the author shows the nightmare face of the night life of many of the contemporary young (and not so) people. The action takes place in an English disco. A group of young men are busy with the usual preparations for having a crazy night. A night of insane adventures, drugs and preposterous language… The roles of the bouncers and their dear “halves” are assumed extremely vividly by Georgi Kurkelanov, Petar Kalchev, Philip Avramov, Christo Mutafchiev. The play is directed by the “puppet” actor Sunny Sunninsky, which again confirms the everlasting imagination and originality of this director school. Godber himself shares that he disposed of very modest means for the realization of his play, only for four actors, and no means for decors. In the Bulgarian stage editing, Sunny Sunninsky uses as a supplement for the actors’ game four poles and a multifunctional association cabin. There is one more coded meaning layer in this amusing comedy – an objection against the flooding from everywhere automatics and apathy. It is a message not only for the young generation, but also for everybody anxious for the future.
